Exotisme of Lake Kelimutu

Water color panorama of Lake Kelimutu in Ende, Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara, is full of mystery. Change the color of the lake is often the case in three separate ex-eruption crater of Mount Flores was a uniqueness to none in the world. As citizens who live long enough in the mainland of  Flores, I'll explain what I know about Lake of Kelimutu based on observation and personal knowledge.

Lake of  Kelimutu in Ende, Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara is known as the lake three colors. The walls of this beautiful lake is prone to landslides. Unfortunately, the beauty of Lake Flores is not as beautiful as its management system. Some facilities, especially facilities for tourists, many now in poor condition and unkempt. For example, the toilet whose condition is alarming, as well as ample parking capacity is very limited, which could only accommodate about 20 vehicles and several four-wheel motorcycles.

To reach the lake of  Kelimutu is located approximately 51 kilometers east of Ende town, tourists can use the motor vehicle from Ende, also can use the bus. The landscape was fascinating region. Thick white fog that moves slowly over the top of  Mount Kelimutu (approximately 1640 meters above sea level) is one of a very typical scene in about three colored lakes on the mountaintops.

Three lakes are located adjacent to each other was also "not named". On the east side, there are two lakes, each of which the water is green and brown. For the green lake, people usually call it by the lake spirits of young people (Tiwu nua muri ko'o fai). A dark brown spirit lake called soothsayers or bad guys (Tiwu ata polo). On the west side there is a lake or a dark green moss, which is called the lake spirits parents (Tiwu Ata Mbupu).

Some the suspect, discoloration of water in the lake of Kelimutu caused by the activity of Mount of Kelimutu , the refraction of sunlight, the micro-biota, water, the dissolved chemicals, as well as due to the reflection color of the walls and bottom of the lake. A brief explanation that changes color to blue water and white (now green) is made possible by changes in water chemical composition of the crater due to changes in volcanic gases, or can also be caused by rising temperatures.
