Ranau Lake; Exotic Lake In South of Sumatra

Ranau Lake is the largest lake and the exotic in the region of  South Sumatra is located in the district of Banding agung Southern OKU Regency. It is about 500 km from the capital  Jakarta, 130 km from the town of Palembang, and 50 kilometers from Muara Dua, Territory capital South Ogan Komering Ulu. The beauty of This lake can be viewed from two different regions,  namely of the Southern District Ogan Komering Ulu and the Liwa district, West Lampung. viewed from the side anywhere its the same  exotic.


Ranau Lake region can be travelled by land vehicles about 7 hours from the city of Palembang, the capital of south sumatera. If from Bandar Lampung, this lake can be pursued through the Bukit Kemuning and Liwa. Geographically, the lake is situated on the border  Regency South Ogan Komering Ulu and South Sumatra Province,West lampung regency of Lampung Province.


Ranau Lake which has an area of about 8 × 16 km with background Seminung mountain (altitude ±1880 m asl), surrounded by hills and valleys. At night the air was cool and sunny in the day time temperature ranges between 20 ° - 26 ° Celsius. geographically, topographic of  Ranau lake is hilly that has valleys. So it makes the weather cool. It sights around the Lake Ranau is amazing.


Based on the legend, the  ranau lake is created from large earthquakes and volcanic eruptions of the volcano

produce a large basin.There was Big river before it flew at the foot of the volcano became the main source of water that fills the basin / crevice, so it's a big hole filled with water. Then around the new lake began to overgrown various plants, including plants bush by local residents called "Ranau". Then lake was named Ranau lake. While the former eruption of the volcano as if forming natural stage exquisite named 'Seminung' Mount, a towering 1880 meters above sea level into the background with shades of magic.


On the other hand in the Seminung mountains there are  natural sources of hot water coming out of the bottom lake.. Around This lake can also be found 'Subik' waterfalls  and another interesting place to visit the Marisa island,it is located not far from the hot springs.
